March 24, 2010 — Meet Morgan Tocker from Percona.com. Morgan is a bit of an expert on MySQL because he used to work for MySQL. We met him at Confoo where he'd given a presentation, as well as a couple 8 hour work shops for developers and DBAs respectively. Morgan was nice enough to give us a couple minutes of his time to discuss the MySQL database and his thoughts on Microsoft engaging the open-source community — overall, he sees that latter as a positive development because it opens up additional possibilities for developers.

The hunter-gatherers who inhabited the southern coast of Scandinavia 4,000 years ago were lactose intolerant. This has been shown by a new study carried out by researchers at Uppsala University and Stockholm University. The study, which has been published in the journal BMC Evolutionary Biology, supports the researchers' earlier conclusion that today's Scandinavians are not descended from the Stone Age people in question but from a group that arrived later.

Le projet de loi a été battu en deuxième lecture aujourd’hui en raison de l’opposition des députés conservateurs et libéraux.

C'est l'arrêt du développement de la branche PHP6 annoncé il y a maintenant plus de deux semaines qui a motivé Facebook pour dévoiler ce fork, car c'est bien de cela qu'il s'agit, puisque les développeurs à l'origine de PHP++ sont partis de cette branche pour débuter leur développement. Facebook espère en effet que ce sera PHP++ qui servira de support pour les prochaines versions du langage, et non le Zend Engine.
